Peran dan Pentingnya Cooling Tower di Industri
Cooling tower adalah salah satu komponen penting dalam berbagai sektor industri. Alat ini berfungsi sebagai sistem pendingin yang digunakan untuk menghilangkan panas dari proses industri atau mesin dengan menggunakan air sebagai media utama. Sistem ini umum ditemukan di pabrik kimia, pembangkit listrik, pabrik makanan dan minuman, hingga fasilitas manufaktur lainnya.
Apa Itu Cooling Tower?
Suatu perangkat yang dirancang untuk menghilangkan panas dari air dengan cara mengalirkannya melalui udara. Dalam proses ini,, air panas dari sistem industri dipompa ke atas menara pendingin dan didistribusikan ke permukaan luas, seperti media pengisi (fill media), yang memperbesar area kontak antara air dan udara. Udara kemudian dihembuskan atau ditarik melewati air, sehingga sebagian air menguap dan membawa panas keluar dari sistem.
Jenis – jenis:
- Cooling Tower Tertutup (Closed-Circuit): Dalam jenis ini, air tidak langsung bersentuhan dengan udara. Sistem ini cocok untuk aplikasi yang memerlukan air bersih atau tidak tercemar.
- Cooling Tower Terbuka (Open-Circuit): Air bersirkulasi langsung melalui menara dan bersentuhan dengan udara. Jenis ini lebih umum digunakan karena lebih sederhana dan ekonomis.
- Forced Draft vs. Induced Draft:

- Forced Draft menggunakan kipas di dasar menara untuk mendorong udara ke atas.
- Induced Draft menggunakan kipas di bagian atas untuk menarik udara ke dalam menara, menghasilkan efisiensi pendinginan yang lebih baik.
